Iraqi Translators and Intrepreters are first to be employed for US forces in Iraq, the urgent and vital need for these interpreter was the first aim if the mission had to succeed.
Iraqi Translators who worked for US forces are coming from different backgrounds: Muslims, Christians, and from other sects. their main goal was mutual despite of the little financial interest they had, but the first goal was to facilitate the American Forces’ work in different aspects of life inside Iraq, starting from providing help as linguists to rebuild medical care facilities, reconstruction of infrastructure, and rebuilding Security Forces in Iraq.
These Translators had their own life, families, and friends. Some had quit perusing their education in order for them to work for the Americans. while others were enthusiastic about the democratic vision and freedom which they dreamed about once they help accomplishing US mission in Iraq. Unfortunately, the Iraqi translators / interpreters have paid heavy price for this co-operation, and the first person to be slaughtered by insurgents in Mosul was a Christian Translator, he was taped on CDs and these CDs were sold in Mosul markets, a warning for others who may face the same destiny if they continued working with American Forces!
They were forced to escape Iraq, and were forgotten by all, until recently US Congress approved a law that will facilitate immigration visas to the United States. but the question is, who would help other interpreters and translators who have been trapped in different places around the world?! some don’t have the instruments to write about their problems, and others are living in prisons in their houses in Iraq because once they get out, their identities will be discovered, and they will fall an easy prey to insurgents and fanatics!
