Father Polous rests in his Coffin
Father Polous rests in his Coffin

In the early days of October, Christian residents of Mosul City had revived the memory of the late Father “Polous Iskandar” who was kidnapped by Islamists on 9th of October 2006 and later then murdered.

The last Mass in his life on this earth was on 8th of October in 2006, afterward, we heard the news of his kidnapping. The Christians in Mosul still remember him with pride and dignity. They believe that Father Polous joined the many number of martyrs that the Church of Iraq had given through its life course.

The last words he spoke in his last Mass were encouraging the youths to hold tight in their Christian Faith, and the tempests should never shake the long rooted history of Christianity in Iraq.

The whole world should think for a moment about the sacrifice of Iraqi Christians in their own land, and how they defended the faith by giving uncountable number of martyrs who sacrificed their lives to keep the torch of Christianity illuminated around the whole globe.

Again, the Iraqi Government has never revealed the committers of this crime, while they have never revealed criminals and terrorist who committed other crimes against Christians in Iraq. This question will still be raised, where is the government from all this?
